Image to 3D

One photograph in, one textured model out.

LocalMesh reads a photograph and builds a 3D model from it: the shape, the UV layout and the texture, written as OBJ, GLB or STL. All of it runs on the graphics card already in your machine, so the photograph never leaves it.

What comes out of one photograph

A closed mesh with a texture on it, not a point cloud and not a preview you have to buy to keep. The file is written to the folder you chose and it is finished when it appears.

Four photographs when one is not enough

One photograph can only guess at the back of a subject. If you have four, front, right, left and back, LocalMesh fuses them on a shared grid rather than averaging four separate guesses afterwards. The back of the object is then seen rather than invented.

It does not ask you to shoot a perfect quarter turn either. The angle each photograph was taken from is measured from the image itself, so a turn made by hand still lands on the right pixels.

How long it takes, on a card most people have

Measured on an RTX 4060 Laptop with 8 GB of video memory, over six subjects, four photographs each. Roughly 60 percent of that time is the texture, not the shape.

What it needs

Windows 10 or 11 and an NVIDIA graphics card, because everything goes through CUDA. LocalMesh is built for 8 GB of video memory and is at its best there. Smaller cards install and run it: a subject too heavy is handled one level down instead of being forced through.

The installer is 239 MB. The models it fetches on first launch settle at around 27 GB and want 38 GB free while they land. After that you can unplug the network and keep working.

Why it matters that it runs here

A generator that runs on someone else's servers decides three things for you. Your images go to a machine you do not own. You pay per generation, so experimenting has a meter on it. And the tool works only for as long as the service does.

Running on your own card removes all three. There is no upload, no credit counter, and no account to lose. What you pay for once is a program on your disk.
